Hi

I currently have A Dell Dimension E520 which has a PSU of just 305W and an PSU that provide 28 amperes on the line of +12v and i would to know if that HD4850 works in this system.

Thanks

No it will not. You need more wattage.

A 4850 is said to use approximately 225-250w fully loaded.

Not likely. It only has one 6 pin power connector. The PCI-E slot is rated to provide 75W, and the 6 pin is also rated for 75W. Therefore, the most it could draw is 150W.

You only have 22amps, not 28.

Here's a 500w @ 35amp that's the same as a Dell recommended replacement, but cheaper, or get any ATX one you see fit:

hmm, 28amps and 12 volts makes 336 watts, thats quite well for a 305W PSU..... or do you have 2 separate units?

Anyhow I think it might work, for a while anyways :PP

edit:kpo6969 beat me to it.....
