Belkin Bluetooth USB adapter. Error 87: parameter is incorrect

Hello!
I am wondering if anyone is smart enough to figure this out, cuz i'm not! I am on a lenovo s10 (model 4231) netbook running windows xp pro sp3. i am using a belkin bluetooth usb adapter (model f8t013) to connect to the internet via my blacberry 8100 (dialup connection). it was working fine until about 5 months ago. now when i try and connect, it gives me an error message "error 87: the parameter is incorrect". my question is: what parameter? are there any log files that can give more information? i can still connect to the internet by connecting my phone via usb cable. oh, and belkin support is useless. they have tried to say that i need to contact microsoft. typical for belkin. please help!
