Why want new software install on Windos XP?

I just purchased new recognition software that does nothing when I try to install it into my computer. what can I do?

ACTIONS TAKEN

1. place new DVD into my DVD drive and nothing happens.
2. place E:/Steup.exe into the RUN AND NOTHING HAPPENS

How can I load this program?

Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the E: drive, double-click Setup.exe and see what happens.
