There are a number of boards, ie, ASUS, said to support RAM up to 16G. However, I can't find 8G of DDR2 nor DDR3 RAM in the market. How to make 16G out of 4 slots?

thanks.

Your math is off. 4x4=16, 4x8=32. You just need 4 sticks of 4gb each.

4G x 4 sticks. Go back to 3rd grade math.

I have a board that actually has this problem though. It's an ECS board that only has 2 slots, but supports 16gb.

It says "* (Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present, the memory maximum size we have tested is 4GB)"

In other words, it might not even work correctly with 8gb. :na:

Well, 4gb should be enough for typical tasks anyway.

That's what I was wondering... how do they know it works with 16gb if they don't make 8gb sticks yet???

Good question. Frankly, I don't believe the 6100s chipset is even capable of supporting 16gb of ram. It's not a p45 that officially supports 16gb. :p

That, plus the fact that it's an ECS board doesn't give me too much faith in it.
