My friends MB burned out on his HP pavilion m7580n so i got him a new MB and a processor (socket upgrade) ECS Geforce 7050m-m V2 and athlon 64 X2 4800+. Anyway i replaced it and removed or i thought i removed... all the old drivers. I installed the new ones except the onboard video driver b/c i used a pci express GFX card. Now the audio doesnt work... i cant figure it out. Ive tried removing the audio drivers and reinstalling them as well as removing all the drivers and reinstalling them. It still wont work. I get errors saying that my audio device isnt configured correctly when i try to use itunes or any other media player. any suggestions?
I have the same mobo but attempts at installing realtek high defininition from the installation disk results in a message stating driver load failed.
Upon examining the audio codec chip there is printed on it AC201. AC201 I believe relates to the AC97 specifications and not to the high definition.
Just bought this system and have yet to query the vendor about this, but the mobo documentation does refer to a newer high definition chip, the ALC558 or newer.
