More Information

I've just upgraded to a 8800 Ultra, for which I also had to buy a new PSU (TPQ850W).

Anyway, I ripped all the old bits out, installed and plugged in all the new hardware but when I boot, all I see is a blank screen. In addition, the PC doesnt make any of the usual noises it makes on booting. The lights/fans etc all work but no picture :(

I reverted to my old graphics card but now get the same problem with that.

I'm pretty happy it's not the PSU as the case fans, CPU fan, HDD all seem to fire up. I left the system running with the old graphics card in for a while and it seemed to get warm, so I'm happy that it's getting power but I cant for the life of me figure out why I see nothing on my screen.

Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone got any ideas as to how I can get around it. I'd be eternally grateful...

Greg

do a test w/ your Ultra on another pc if possible. i hope you didn't static-fry anything on the motherboard.

also check see if your PSU actually have enough power to house your Ultra along with other things.

p.s. what kind of 'old bits' did you 'ripped out' exactly, other than the video card?

Post full specs.

This is a classic symptom from not plugging in the 4 pin or 8 pin CPU power lead. Is it plugged in?

If so manually default the CMOS (reset the BIOS) using whatever method is explained in the manual, usually reset pins.

is the power plugs for the video card plugged in? If you have another system, could you check if the card is good?

Did you get everything plugged back in? AKA the 4/8 pin 12v ATX CPU power?

Reset the Cmos.
