That build is great. Pair a more capable cooler with the cpu, like a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme instead, it's well worth it. I had the AC one, then i got the Thermalright, average difference in temps, 10C.

I was thinking of going with that, but am a bit worried about the space in the Antec 900. Thoughts?

Also, my knowledge of the 4870 is slim to none. I've heard it's the way to go, but have more experience with 8800s.

Is this a wise purchase for 300? I'm having trouble figuring out why I should buy this card instead of just using my previous card.

Reply to manosteel00

Yes, the 4870 is a good card right now for the price and it will get much better once they release new drivers.

I recommend the xigmatek HDT1283 for a cooler, its not much more expensive than the AC and it performs extremely well.

And definitely get the 4870, it performs about as well as a GTX 260, which is a $400 card. And almost as well as the $650 GTX 280. Go for it.

P.S. What resolution will you be running?

The build looks good, if you do plan to get the TRUE, i would get 2 120mm fans with high cfm and do a push pull config.

Reply to Shadowthor

I'm planning on doing 1650x1080.

In regards to push pull config - not too sure what you mean there (I'm kind of a noob).

Thanks.

I have antec 900 with themalite 120 extreme and the space is ok. There is about 1-2 to spare from top of cooler to the case.

My max temp (at 3.0ghz q6600) is only 52 C. Thats with the small tfts in prime 95. Its well worth the better cooler if you intend to OC.

Do you mean mount 2 fans on the ultra 120? ...Hmm i had wondered if anyone had done this.

Also - is the mobo overkill? I just plan on having one GPU and doing moderate OCing once I am comfortable with it.

Also - Do I need an x48 mobo? I was thinking that a P35 would be fine.

Here's what I just ordered - I'm sooo freaking excited. Oh, and I went with the Zalman Cooler because it looks pimp and has decent reviews (even if it isn't the best) =)
