Watercooling for i7 and 4870X2

I am in now way an expert on watercooling, because i just started 2 weeks ago. But id like to voice my opinion, and what you want to cool is almost identicle to what im cooling. Minus the CPU.

As far as i know, that is a great pump, but i think it requires a top. The pump that i got is the MCP655 with variable speeds. It works wonders. Its a very solid pump.

Unless your running 2500 RPM fans, your going to get less performance out of that rad than a cheaper MCR220/320.

Also, for that loop, i would highly recommend a triple fan rad or better. A double fan rad will not be able to cool an i7 and a 4870x2.

I use a t-line with a Danger Den fillport. You can look up t-line vs reservoir on google to research what is right for you.


GPU Block (HD 4870X2)


Definitely go with the Danger Den 4870x2 full coverage block. It is cooling my 4870x2 to 29C.

I dont know about that block. But i am running the Swiftech Apogee GTZ. It is said to be one of the best blocks you can buy.

They also make one for socket 1366.

It should be just as good as the socket 775 block.


Other

Im using 7/16 inch tubing. It fits over any 1/2 inch barbs. It is also more flexible and has a smaller bend diameter than 1/2 inch tubing.

Thats about all i have for now. Again, wait until Conumdrum chimes in to help you out. And hopefully everything i just said was right.

Thanks for your input guys. I think I'll switch the radiator and CPU Block after your recomendations.

I would still like som help with the Pump Top though....

Can someone explain to me what a pump top actually does??
