Trouble while starting/formating xp

Hello,
my computer not starting,when i starts it continuously showing window xp is starting but not starts. when i repaired or installed a fresh xp it stuck on a particular point i.e. examining 305243 MB disk 0 at id 0 on bus 0 on atapi... it remains at this point forever

Try booting into safe mode.

If you can get into safe mode, run a chkdsk /r. If not, boot off the XP disc, into the repair console. You can run the chkdsk from there instead.
