Hi all :) Got a question-or a problem i guess. I run auto-clock on AMD O.D. and that bad boy goes to 18.5 multiplier HT ref. 205- Mem frequency 409-voltage 1.425 and puts my Phenom II 720 up to 3.8Mhz and i can run the AMD O.D. stability test forever. As soon as i start Prime95 down it goes. I tried the same settimgs in my bios but wouldnt even boot. I am at 17.5 multiplier-stock voltage of 1.325 and im at 3.5Mhz at 53c load and can run Prime all 24hrs no problem. Am i topped out or do i have more room to go a little higher? I have tried going to 18x and went all the way up to 1.425 volts at .025 ticks (cuz thats how my mobo goes) with no luck. Can anyone give me a hand ? And i dont mean clapping !

yeah, that sounds like the top. What cooler are you using? I hope its not stock, although with an overclock like that and still those temps, good job. *gives him a hand*. Other than that, you can try to keep increasing the voltage, but be careful. IMO 3.5 is really pretty nice.

Overclock in the BIOS it should be better than just software

Thank you last resort. I am using the Arctic 64 Pro. I tried setting my bios to what the AMD Overdrive went to which was 18.5x---1.425 voltage----FSB 209 which put me at 3.8mhz-----but couldnt run Prime for even 30 seconds. Should i be able to just bump my multiplier and voltage up to get it a little higher? i would like to get to 3.7 and be able to keep it stable. Any suggestions would be great.

Personally , I have had a really disappointing experience with amd overdrive , it does nothing but crash my pc and freeze itself etc . my advice is use the mobo instead

and , I find it better to keep the multiplier at 15 and up the fsb to whatever , and I reckon 1.525 volts is a little high ,
I reckon you should reign in a bit on 3.8 , I think 3.6-7 is about as far as you can safely go on air

i would be happy at 3.7----i guess even at 3.6------- so maybe if i drop multiplier down to 16 maybe and up FSB wouldnt i also have to up my voltage ? And for some reason i dont have much luck in my bios.

If your OC is not stable then you need to up your voltage. For your reference my voltage had to be 1.525 V to OC to 3.7 GHz using the multiplier only. It only needed 1.45 V to OC to 3.64 GHz using the FSB only at 260 MHz.
