Hello, I'm not sure if I am looking in the right place or not. I Have a Compaq Presario V5000 and had no problems with it until it froze up on me one day. I had to shut if off and try and reboot. I was running XP Pro. Since then I had to try to reinstall. I checked the memory with memtest+86 since I had recently bought new memory a month and a half earlier. That ended up throwing no errors. I sometimes can boot a bootable OS linux distro but sometimes it fails. I have used gparted and it sees my hardrive and I can reformat it. I tried to test it using PhoenixBios Hdd Self-test and it reaches 20% then freezes. I have to press ESC to cancel. I suck at testing hardware and dont have a ton of experience with it. After everything that I have read, I am looking at the hard drive, or motherboard. Would that explain the bios freeze up?

Completely lost.

Any help/suggestions and I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

So no one can offer any info on this? Hmmmm........

I know it seems all over the place but I thought that I someone could maybe point out something that I missed or had a similar experience.

Nothing? :ouch:
