since i got my computer, the loading bar during the windows screen (before the welcome screen) freezes twice, once for about 5 seconds, then again for about 2 seconds. in all other aspects, the computer works fine. i'm wondering if this is a known issue with an easy fix.

that could be due to a large number of things. my suggestion for you is to reinstall windows. although personally i dont see what the big deal is. and is the computer actually freezing or does the bar just stop moving? those two are completely different.

I got an easy fix.

Close your eyes for 20 seconds.

it started after i installed the SATA drivers, so I'm assuming it was normally pausing because it was loading those drivers.

found it: drive type set to "IDE" in bios.
