Yes, I have heard of "Mind Buffs" too but I never see anybody doing
them. It would help a LOT too when I am out doing DNA Sampling with my
BE.

Dancers can buff your mind, and musicians can buff your secondary mind stats
(focus and willpower). The way it works is you watch or listen to the
entertainer and they "direct their performance to you." After 10 minutes or
so of this, you stop watching or listening, and your stats are buffed. The
longer you watch or listen while the entertainer is directing their
performance, the longer your buff will last. The amount of the buff depends
on the skill of the dancer or musician, with masters buffing the best.

Two problems. First, it takes too long. To get a buff that lasts 3 hours,
you have to watch or listen for 15 minutes. Second, with all the
holo-grinding going on, it seems there aren't too many "real" entertainers
any more. Most entertainers in the cantina these days are AFK macroers.
Finding master musicians/dancers who want to take the time to sell buffs is
pretty hard. I have seen where some entertainers have figured out how to
buff using AFK macros, which means maybe more will do it.

Actually a good entertainer can buff for 2 hours in 4 minutes or less. The
trick is finding a true entertainer and not a holo grinder.

TRUE entertainers will talk to you and attempt to entertain you while you
are getting healed/buffed. A good entertainer is not someone who knows how
to power flourish through a buff but one that knows how to keep me watching
and coming back.

I agree totally. A good entertainer is not necessarily a buffbot and a
buffbot is not necessarily a good entertainer. There are some dancers
that I enjoy just sitting down and watching, because they know how to
entertain. Doing the clothing changes during the smokescreens, talking
to the crowd, etc. It makes the interaction FUN (yeah, I know, who
thought the social aspect could be fun :p).

Last I heard (over a week ago), a buff under a certain time (five
minutes maybe?) was considered an exploit. The last publish/patch
whatever hit the entertainers to set a minimum limit it takes to buff.

An entertainer buff is different. It only occurs either when you are in
a group with the entertainers (and are watching/listening to them), or
they do a /setperformance on you. Entertainers get that skill at Novice
Dancer/Musician. Dancers buff your primary mind, while musicians buff
your secondary mind stats. The first branch in the profession (at least
for musician, I assume the same for dancer) increases the buff power. I
forgot the exact scale, but at 4xxx you get a 75% buff (for a 1000 stat,
you get a bonus of 750). The power is always the same, the duration of
the buff is dependant on how long you watch/listen - up to a maximum of
right around two hours.

There is food to decrease the time it takes to get the full buff. There
is an exquisite leotard for dancers that give a bonus to the buff skill,
but I haven't checked out how much it helps (our dancer didn't like to
wear her first one since it was flesh colored, I haven't been on at the
same time as her since she got a new one - and since my musician is a
male, I won't even go there :p).

In short, find a non-afk Master Musician/Dancer (or even a Virtuoso, and
no clue what the dancer title is... Mesmerizer maybe?), send them a
/tell and ask them how much for a buff.

Hope that helps.
