Hi guys, I want to know if an esata to sata cable will suffice to use an internal HD or does it require to have also a power source for the HD to run and be usable in my laptop (gateway p-7805u). Thanks in advance :)

You need power as well. Some external 2.5" drives can use power from USB ports or else You need external power supply.

Yep - the SATA /eSATA connection does not supply any power to the drive.
