I recently got a blu ray player for my computer. Have an 8800gt, a dell 2407 monitor, and use PowerDVD 8. I've had some image quality issues with Blu ray playback and am looking for some help correcting that. Most of the time, everything looks perfect, but I'll have short bursts of fairly heavy noise appearing during some scenes. (AFAIK, it's not the disk or a movie issue as I've read numerous reviews of the disks and no reference is made to that issue). Also, a lot of images, such as stairs, will bend as the camera moves... sort of the same problem in a game I'd crank aniso up to correct, but not sure how to do the comparable thing for video.

I used to have an ATI card, and I know I could play around with different video settings in their control panel, but nvidia doesn't seem to have many settings. Just edge enhance, noise, and reverse telecine. Since blu ray is 1080p, I assume reverse telecine has no impact? As for noise or edge enhancement, I'm not sure what my best bet is for the settings, so I usually just leave them to follow the software. Is there anyway to force other video controls? Or do I need to depend on my software for everything more or less?

As for the PowerDVD, I'm not sure why, but I'm basically unable to set any deinterlacing options. (Should I have deinterlacing turned on or off for a bluray anyway? 1080p isn't interlaced, but am I thinking of the term incorrectly?) When I try to use PowerDVD to force bob (for some reason smart deinterlacing is greyed out and can't be selected when a bluray runs, and no other options are available), the disk stops and says the blu ray protection crap won't allow the disk to play at high res. Apparently the deinterlacing interferes with the disk security check or something?

As I'm sure you can tell, while I have a lot of gaming experience, I have no idea what I'm doing with my hardware when it comes to video playback, so any help you can provide at all is a HUGE benefit to me. I've tried googling, but can't seem to get any idea of what my default settings for a blu ray should be with the card or software or what else might be causing the IQ issues.

Thanks guys!
