Hello all,

I have an old computer with a hard drive and a dvd burner that I want to install into my new computer,( HP Pavillion A6430F).Basically I would like to use the burner and just transfew about 100 gig of files from the HDD and then reinstall it into the old PC.
The Motherboard is a Asus MZN68-LA. I can't figure out what I need to do this. The HDD and burner in the HP PC are using what looks like a 4 pin connector. Do I need a controller card and cables? If so what kind and which one. BTW the new computer is using Vista Home Pre. 3 bit.. I would like to install a video card, (it is using onboard video now). about $100 is what I would like to spend on it. I am not a gamer but I do some video editing.

The old DVD burner is probably a ribbon cable and power connector? The new one uses a small SATA connector and a different looking power connector.

You could buy an adaptor board etc, but you can buy a DVD burner for $35 or so. Just buy a new one for the new Dell.

Thanks for responding. How about the Hard disk. I ahve alot of info that I would like to move to the new PC.
