Good evening,

I have been attempting to research methods to overclock and older MSI MS-7191 motherboard that I have. I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ socket 939 processor coming in for this machine and would like to revitalize it. From what I have read the processor mod to open up the L1 won't be difficult, however I am having a bit of difficulty with the BIOS settings. I am running on v1.2 of the MSI released BIOS (most recent release).

From my past OC experiences and research the ideal motherboards provide a very fine degree of control when it comes to controlling bus speeds, multipliers and the like independently. That is unfortunately not the case whatsoever with this mobo. I am hoping that if you pros are provided the specifics options presented to me, we can work together to find a workable OC, or at least put it to rest that one will not be possible.

I will attempt to outline the pertinent and/or questionable areas below and present the various options available in this version of American Megatrends BIOS. It is provided in the following format "Option name [(selected option)/ option]".

POWER MANAGEMENT FEATURES:
ACPI Function [(Enabled)/Disabled]
ACPI Standby State [(S1/POS)/ S3POS/ Auto]

PNP/PCI CONFIGURATIONS:
Clear ESCD [(No)/Yes]
Primary Graphics Adapter [(Auto)/PCI Mode]
PCI Latency Timer [32/(64)/96/128]

CELL MENU
Cool'n'Quiet [(Disabled)/Enabled]
Adjust DDR Memory Frequency [(Auto)/Manual (options available 100/133/166/200MHz)]
Ratio Change [(Auto)/ Manual CPU Ratio (options available x5/x6/x7/x8/x9/x10/x11/x12/x13/x14/x15/x16/x17/x18/x19/x20)]
Auto Disable PCI Clock [(Enabled)/Disabled]
Spread Spectrum [(Enabled)/Disabled]

As you can see I am not working with much here. I hope this sets of a little (or big) lightbulb over someone's head. Thanks for your time.

The following is taken from a CPUID CPU-Z Log, I have cut it up to prevent a huge text wall, if you require the full contents please let me know and I will get them to you. You will notice that this particular log is for the current processor in this particular machine and is not the X2.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone out there can provide, and to the rest... well I apologize for such a long post.

Best Regards!
