My DVD works when used as a boot disk in BIOS (can use my windows XP disk) which suggests that its working ok.But no icon in device manager or my computer. I've tried removing the upper & lower filters in regedit but this has not solved the problem. Any other ideas please

try changing youre hd driveletters(not the c offcourse). One of your hd's might have the smae driveletter as the dvd. Also check youre device manager if you can see the dvd there

Hi winkbuul,
Thanks for your reply. I only have one hard drive installed & no icon (hence no dvd rw shown in device manager) hmm
