Is that 55 idle or load? (I'm assuming load.) Makes a difference.
OCing from the bios is the way to go. A bit harder then windows methods, but it works the best. Roush, he's overclocking an old single core 3800+, so it started at 2.4GHz.

Load, just tried OC'ing from BIOS a lil, lol it feels DANGEROUS, my comp does all types of st00f it shouldn't be doin lol !
Got it to 2688.02mhz =\ sounds a lil lame to me, idk probably just what everyone says AMD's are bad for OC'in.
Stable on 224x12 stock voltage, one question, does increasing cpu voltage let the frequency go higher ?
Locked multiplier old K9N Ultra board, built this pc about 6-7 yrs ago !
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm jus testing OC'in on here due to the fact Im ordering Phenom II 955 in 2-3 days and don't wanna destroy it lol.
Cleaned my *stock* cpu fan today too lol !
BTW its like 48 C at idle lol. Never seen it go past 55, 55 is high for this piece of pleb.
What do ya mean by a suicide run, put max on everything + blow it up ? L A W L

It can be dangerous, but you should be alright as long as you don't start upping the voltages. At worst, you should just have to clear the bios. Upping the voltage can open up higher "FSB" settings, just don't push it to far. Remember that AMD CPUs like the one your using don't have an FSB. Also remember to keep your HyperTransport bus under 1GHz. If you hit 224 and left the multiplier on 5, your now at 1120MHz, much to high. 224 * 4 = 896, a far better number.

It should be there. Common settings are auto, 5x, 4x, 3x, 2x, 1x. It might not say multiplier, but it should reference the hypertransport/HTT. Its normal for the CPU multiplier to be locked, and yes its different from the HTT multiplier. I don't think the 3800+ would normally OC to 3GHz, but 2.8 on air should be doable.

What are your settings? Is your ram to high? Did you find a way to lower the HTT frequency? As I said, if it gets above 1GHz, it won't be stable/bootable.

No ram settings? If you can't change the ram or HTT values, its going to be hard to cross 225. Your already at 450 and 1125, not sure how much more your RAM and HTT can take.
