This site lets you build a custom PC using daily data from Newegg. It grabs the 3 most popular items in each category, and you build your system using those components. Then you can add the whole thing to your cart and finish up at the newegg site.

It also lets you get a price history of each product. Might help you out if you're looking for a proven ~$1000 build.

Mass production of rollable displays set for 2006
