Seagate barracuda 7200 10 jumpers

got this 80 gigs barracuda 7200 10 a year ago.it works fine for 6 months or so then gave me a headache after. tried formatting it 3 or 4 times. would work fine but hangs or crashes later.tried replacing it then pc works ok. now im using it as slave for storage only.until i notice that jumper. what's this 1.5gb/s and 3.0gb/s stands for?

If you are using an older motherboard you may have to put on that jumper to limit the speed to 1.5 GB/s.
Check what speed you motherboard supports.
