I wonder if the extra $75.00 for a Q9550 is worth the extra 675 mghtz it (and cache)has over the Q8200 with 450 mghtz ddr2. (let alone VT). there are deals on the older stepping. my purpose would be appz. I do not want go I7 yet, I suspect that this choice would extend the usefulness of my platform 9 months to a year. Furthermore I work in a sector of the economy that has not yet seen the bottom. :ouch:

Go with the q9550 not only is it already at a higher frequency but you have the bigger cache. trust me that extra 675mhz will make a difference.

Q9550 unless you absolutely cannot afford the $75 difference. And with a decent HSF, you should be able to push it farther.
