Hi all,

I am looking for a possibly silent (at least when idle) HD4850 based card . For most of the time I'm not gaming so the idle noise is top priority, I am also prepared to spare some more money for the silence. However I would rather not install any custom cooling.

Any recommendations?

Sorry, but its just sound interesting to me.
If you not gaming, why would you buy an HD4850 Graphic card?

P.S. Dun get me wrong, i love this graphic card as much as most of you.

I agree. If your not gaming, why have a 4850?

Also, if for "most of the time" your not gaming, just lower your fan speed on the card and just before you run an occasional game, raise it back up.

Just be an Accelero S1 and wak it on there

Passive Coolings the bomb

Passively, with this cooler ur card will run cooler than with active stock cooling.

Put it and never look back, iv had this on my x850xt x1950pro
and now on my 8800gt and its amazing.

Being an occasional gamer doesn't mean that I want to compromise performance since when I can devote some time to playing (even if rarely) I'd like to play the newer titles hi-res.

the stock reference 4850 from any manufacturer is quite quiet with the fan speed at 40% and lower. at 40% it does a fine job cooling the GPU, especially at idle speeds.
