Hey I was lloking at the Sony VAIO SRX77 because it's insanely small and light and has everything I need and nothing I don't. My problem is that I don't want to give Sony my money if I don't have to. Does anybody know of any other notebooks that are so small and light (under 3 lbs!) but NOT a Sony?

Also, rumor has it that the SRX87 will be coming out in about a month. Anybody know about that?

TIA,
D

The Dell Latitude X200 (something needs to be said for it)

graphics "card" shares memory with system RAM.

a) I dont remember him saying anything about performance
b) its not that bad because it can access 48MB of the Main Mem, (even though it uses the Intel 830M to drive its display)
0,8" thin, 2,8lbs + u can put in a CD-R/RW/DVD combo drive
c) although the batt. life isn't as long, it will go for 8hrs with 2 batt. + it uses a p3 800MHz

but yes, the portege probably is a better bet

Here is a great site with some bloody awesome ultraportables: http://www.dynamism.com/index.shtml
They offer Sony products, but they also have other manufacturers.

Well the SRX87 is here and it's pretty sweet. Great battery life, and more RAM are the major improvements. Any new ideas on competition?

Thx,
D
