I just picked up a 6mos old E8400 for $88.

I have this machine (specs in sig) that I use only for gaming and internet/email....

Wifes machine is an E6300 oc'd to 2.8 on a 965p DS3 gigabyte mobo...All she does is play SIMS and little Yahoo games with an x1950pro vid card.....

The "good" problem... I can sell the E8400 for a nice profit... or I can sell the e6300 for like $70 or so... give wife the quad and keep the e8400 for me...... or give her the e8400.. oh wait, he mobo cant do it....

I dont know... need an opinion from some of you smart folks...

I think i should give her the q6600 and use the e8400 for myself.. but then I could make at least $50 if I ebay it....

well, up and running with the e8400... temps are a bit wierd.. i have a 8c diffence on the 2 cores... speed fan and real temp show 25 idle on one core and 33 idle on the other.. same difference on stress test. (core temp and HWMonitor are way wacky..)

I am oc'd to 3.8 w/ a vcore of 1.250. VID is 1.225 per real temp and 1.125 per core temp. Bios showed it at 1.225

The DTS information for 45 nm CPUs is not able to be accurately translated into core temps yet. Intel promised that they will release the specs for that soon, so the wacky temps are a known problem with a planned fix.

Keep it. It will serve as a back up since you know it works. If something goes wrong, and you need to trouble shoot a list, that E6300 could be handy.

But that's just me.
