Yesterday while watching movie on my PC it appeared as black on the screen and stopped working. After restarting the PC it was not responding as the BIOS was unable to recognize the hard disk. It creates an unusual sound while BIOS searches drives.
1. I tried by bootting the PC using another hard disk but this HD does not appear in the windows.
2. I also tried to boot using Ubuntu live CD but failed to find my HD on it.
As it is not recognized by BIOS, I cann't use data recovery software to recover the data. I'm badly in need of all data in it.
Please someone help me in this regard to recover the data.
Brand: SAMSUNG
Model: HD252HJ
Capacity : 250 GB
Interface : Serial ATA 3.0 Gbps
Buffer memory : 16MB
#1: I connected a IDE hard disk and boot windows from it. No drive is showing in the windows.
Please be noted that this HD creates an unusual sound while BIOS searches for drives it takes more time than usual to search drives. But no sound when it is disconnected from the system.
Freezing trick didn't work in my case. If the drive contents are really important anything you do might just reduce the chance of data recovery and you should disconnect power immediately and consult professional data recovery companies with their own cleanroom labs.
Try to invest in a backup solution in the future; if you have a LAN at home you can use the HDDs on the network as backup feature, at least for your most important files (like personal photos and documents).
