I have an Asus motherboard -- P5N-MX with NVIDIA GeForce 7050 and nForce 610i chipsets.
I checked the Asus site for driver downloads and found 4 items that I don't understand -- 2 chipset drivers and 2 utilities.
The chipset drivers are:
1. RIS 67.53 for MCP73
2. NVIDIA chipset driver 16.11 package for XP and 64bit XP/Vista and 64bit Vista. (WHQL)
The utilities are:
3. ASUS Update V7.13.02 Install Program for Windows 2000, 2003, XP (32 & 64 bit)
4. ASUS PC ProbeII V1.04.23 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista & Windows 64bit XP/2003/Vista
I'm using Windows XP. Does anybody know what these things are so I can decide whether I need to install the drivers, and so that I will know whether I need the utilities?
Asus Update is for updating the Bios from Windows. Do not use it. Use a floppy or USB drive.
Asus PC Probe is for temperature and fan reading. Speedfan or Everest is better if you have access to it.
Nvidia chipset driver. You need to install that.
RIS 67.53: I don't know what that is.
