Hello I just installed the ASUS ATI 4850 on my PC.
My PC is Vista Ultimate 64 bit. 6400+ processor 4 gig ram.
The video and Audio DO work. However, it doesn't look like VISTA is recognizing the HDMI as anything more than Stereo.
Here is what I did to set it up.
1. Installed Hardware. Placed Card in PC. Turned on PC.
2. Installed 8.6 Catalyst
3. Installed Hotfix for 4850
4. Plugged HDMI into my card and into the back of my Onkyo 606 reciever
5. Right Clicked Sound in System Trey.
6. Switched it from Speakers to HDMI (the new option after installing the ATI card).
Like I mentioned before, with this setup everything works. HOWEVER, when I click the Configure button when the HDMI is selected, Vista only pops up with STEREO as an option. There is no 5.1 or 7.1 option. When I go into properties (right clicking the HDMI icon and selecting properties under Vista) the quality is set to 16bit DVD quality and it is greyed out. It will not allow me to change it.
Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?
I tried installing the REALTEK HDMI drivers. This doesn't work. All it does is cause the ATI HDMI option to dissapear from system sound options and then it TAXES the heck out of the machine's processor (for no good reason).
