i bought a white label hdd and got no instructions. do i have to have a jumper on it ? this will be my master. is there a general rule as to which position is the master setting? (::::)

Download this file called drivedetect.exe and identify the drive, so you can find the proper jumper settings.

Western Digital for the most part does not need jumpers for single/master.
