Different brand memory on same board

Hey guys. I am considering upgrading my PC. I already have 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800 from Patriot.

I am going to buy another 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800... Except the brand will be OCZ.

Will I have any problems doing this? Should I just get 4GB for the upgrade/new PC (I'm getting a new mobo as well) or is it OK to mix and match brands?

  1. You can mix brands however, your ram will most likely run in single channel mode. Also, 4 ram sticks are harder to OC than 2. It would probably be worth it to upgrade to a 4gb kit.
  2. Alright, I've decided on buying 4GB (2x2GB) instead of adding another 2. Managed to get a good combo deal on newegg.com

    Thanks for the input!
