I have cable internet with a Linksys 2.4 GHz 802.11g wireless broadband router. My computer is wired to the router. When I enable wireless (mixed, WPA, TKIP) and my girlfriend connects with her laptop it will disrupt my internet. This results in a complete disruption in any applications using the internet at the time.

Is there something I need to do to make it so her laptop can connect without disrupting the internet?

Thanks :)

Good day!

I've heard this issue before. The only reason that I will disrupt you hardwired's internet connection is having an IP conflict.

Kindly check the IP addresses on both pc's.Also please provide me the model number of your wireless router.

Thanks!

Yes, thank you for reminding me Ironhide.

Whenever she connects I get a warning saying "there is an IP conflict on the system".

The router model number: WRT54GS

How can I go about giving her a seperate IP address?

I need first to know the IP address on your pc.

Click start> run type cmd press enter/ok.
Type on ipconfig/all press enter.

You'll see there IP address.
