Hello guys would be very greatfull if someone could please help me. I have just purchased the I7 920 DO and an X58 pro mobo and im a noob at overclocking the only overclocking ive ever done was with basic programs ie Ntune.Ive read hundreds of forums and im still none the wiser my head is spinning.I would like to no if anyone could give me a list of were everything should be ie base clock and so on. Im not after a big overclock between 3.2 and 3.6 would be ok for now ive read on some forums you can leave everything as it is for about 3.4ghz and just increase the base clock is this true it also states this in this months pc format magazine.Ive checked with everset and my idle cpu temp is between 27 and 34, core 1 is 46, core 2 is 44, core 3 is 47, core 4 is 42, i havent checked these on full load, also in the oc program that came with the mobo everything keeps changing the cpu speed goes from 1.6ghz up to 2.9ghz this is also the case with everest and the oc program alarm on the system 3 fan keeps going off even though there is no fan installed in that socket and it reads 0 any advice and suggestions would be greatfull thanx.Has anyone got this board and could possibly share your configuration with me.

Perhaps if you don't like to read the long, undivided text you usually find in forums (unfortunately, including what you wrote above), maybe the videos here will help you make sense? Intel Core i7 Overclocking How-to

Will this be a good build to overclock 2500k to 5.0GHz?

I'm the one that told him that a Silver Arrow will get to 5Ghz, so I'll take the blame...
