I've been told that the EVGA 790i Ultra SLI mobo does not have its two PCIe 2.0 slots next to eachother, although the layout diagram on Tiger Direct (linked below) shows that it does.

I'm not sure if TD is to be trusted though since the similar mobo from XFX also has two PCIe 2.0 slots
although the layout diagram shows it having three!

Does anyone know if either of these boards have abutting 2.0 slots? Is there any way to run two GPUs in 2.0!?!?

As far as I know, it's possible to run 3 gpu's in pci-e x16 2.0.

Well perhaps on the XFX board one of the slots only has 4x bandwidth or some other weird limitation. Anyway the motherboard manual should tell you what's what. Basically, they both have 3 PCI-E slots, so you can 2 or 3 way SLi nVidia cards.

all the slots are the same distance from each other. although im not sure if that can all run at the full 2.0 bandwidth.

Ok, I found the answer, in case anyone cares. The XFX board does in fact have three 2.0 slots. In addition I didn't realize before that you could run dual SLI with two cards that were not right next to eachother. Thanks for all the responses as well!
