No idea where this should go...also, I'm posting on behalf of a friend. I'll update information as needed
My friend is on my BF2 comp team, and is one of our best players. However, he gets disconnected from BF2 (Punkbuster complains of packet loss) after around 10 minutes or so, every time he gets in a server. He's made sure punkbuster (hate it) is up do date, re-installed at least twice, and done a re-format. He is behind a router, which I thought might be the issue, but the disconnecting happens even using a direct connection.
His internet is fine on Ventrillo, etc, its just BF2 being a pain, and I've got no clue exactly what the issue is with him at this point. I plan to have him test in a non-pb server, to at least test to see if punkbuster is the root cause, but in the meantime, can anyone spot out any testing steps I might have overlooked?
I'm asking now, because we almost won TWL Rung 1 yesterday, till he dropped when we were up 5 tickets (28-23)...
From my personal experience with BF2, it seems like he is using a no-cd crack. That would be the most obvious. I recommend getting "Game Jackal" to run NO-CD as professional LAN cafe's would. That way he is able to play without having punk buster cry about him with no-cd.
Aside from that the punk buster homepage has a link to all errors. Have him play the game, get the error, write it down, then search for it at the punk buster home page.
