I have an Intel Q9550 running on an Evga 750i FTW mobo with 4GB G-skill pi DDR2 800 memory. I know how to go in and adjust my FSB but Im noob when it comes to my voltages. I would like to get my cpu up to around 3.1-3.2ghz. My cpu temps are 34,34,30,29 at idle and no core goes over 43 after running prime95 after 2 hours. I have had my cpu up to 3.06 but uping my FSB but i didnt mess with voltages any(scared). @3.06 my temps never got above 45c running prime. i just need some advice on what else to adjust besides FSB so I dont screw things up. I couldnt think of a better place to ask then here so thanks beforehand people.
Since I got no replies to my first post, I went ahead and started tinkering with things myself. Before I screw my crap up too much I figured I'd come get advice on my current settings in Bios. I have a Q9550, 750i FTW mobo, and 4GB G-skill PI DDR2 800 memory. Here's what I got so far for my mild overclock.
3187.5mhz
8.5 mult.
unlinked
FSB 1500
Mem 800
CPU Core 1.29375
CPU FSB 1.15
Mem Auto 1.9
Nforce SPP Auto 1.4
NF200 Voltage level auto 1.20
GTLVREF
lane 1 auto +00mv
lane2 +00mv
lane 3 auto +00mv
lane 4 auto +00mv
This is just a start. I'd like to overclock it up to 3.4 or so, but thought I'd come here for some advice before I go any further. Another thing is, when I start up CPU-Z @ idle it shows my core voltage is at 1.272 and when I start up prime95 it drops to 1.232. Also, Realtemp shows my temps at 36,36,29,29 idle and laod after 1 hour of Prime95 small blend my max temps are 54,52,50,48(I think my heatsink needs lapped). Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Thanks for the advice overshocked. Another question I have is should go by what I set my vcore in bios to or should I go by what CPU-Z says. In bios I set it to 1.29375 and CPU-z says 1.272 idle and 1.232 load. The drop in CPU-Z from idle to load voltages would be the vdrop thing I've reading about right??? I apologize for all the questions, but this is my first time setting up a permanent overclock for my pc and I'm learning this as I go. Thanks
