+1, DX11 is backwards compatible in the same way DX10.1 is, i.e. it's not.

Yes, I don't know where all this talk about ATI's SPs being more "general purpose" is coming from :??: If anything it's the opposite...

Unfortunately there is no guarantee that ATI's tesselator will be DX11 compliant. In fact, given NVIDIA's heavy involvement with DX11 I would bet against it :(

Probably so. But lets hope NVidia pulls the rug again and tesselation only comes in DX11.1. And by that time my CF 4870 is completely outdated. 2012/2014 ? For DX11.1 games start hitting the shelves ?
  2. DX10 games havnt even hit the shelves yet realistically. We have, what, 3 of them? Crysis, Lost Planet and......Gears of War? 2 of those 3 are console rehashes, DX9 games with some extra code thrown in there. You cant count Age of Conan yet because they removed the DX10 engine until late august/sept.
  3. ^ those aren't even dx 10...

there isn't a SINGLE game that is written FOR dx 10... there isn't... everything was written in dx9... and then modified slightly for dx 10
  4. Which is a large part of the reason why DX10 is so underwhelming right now. I'd love to see some dedicated DX10 titles hit the shelves.
  5. Which furthers the point, what the hell is the point of DX11? Nobody even knows how DX10 fully performs, apparently not even developers.
  6. @mactronix, @strangestranger
Well, yes in fact that's what I was trying to say. Eh, English isn't my native language, so sometimes I misrepresent myself.
Whatever, I'm waiting nVidia back into the game. In fact it's been long away from the game. (G80 was shining because there was nothing to oppose it from other camp, not because it was architecturally perfect.)
  7. Ehe. Remember that old thread about DX10.1 games?

First the game engines need to be upgraded to DX10, later games will follow suit.

  9. A year after the thread was started, things have moved on unlike this thread. Unneeded resurrection, die thread die.
  10. Sigh... This thread is more than a year old..... Any opinions spathatan may have had then.. when dx11 was announced.. are probably very different by now.

    Read the dates please!
