Hey peoples.

I have old (2004) HP that has about 500MB of RAM and I was wondering if it would be possible to buy at least 1GB more for my computer?

I have an HP pavillion a610n.

I was also looking for a graphics card, but I don't really need one.

you can look here it says ddr2700 but ddr400 (3200) is probably cheaper and it will lower the speed on the ram not the pc you can go to your favorite store and get some

I have about 200 bucks to spend.

So I'm better off with the ddr2700?

You recommended this, and I trust you, so I'll get it.

Just hope it's compatible...

Thanks! Those links helped bunches. :bounce:

So what it is saying is that I need a graphics card that has VIA UniChrome graphics?

The OCZ that you listed will not work, as it is DDR2 800 (your board can only support DDR 400, or DDR 333) I listed the DDR 333 as some boards (Gateway, Dell, and others have the board locked to a certain speed) more RAM is still better than faster RAM. (2GB is optimum for XP)

Thanks, I'll order one under DDR400.

This hardware stuff is really intriguing (spelling?) to me ever since I had to move that one little switch to reset my BIOS password. :p

No, for your PC it has an AGP 8X slot for a better card (that VIA is the onboard) after you install the new card be sure to disable the onboard graphics, and uninstall (or disable the device in windows).

Would I find the current on board graphics card in my BIOS? Sorry for all the questions, I am just so eager to get into this stuff.

I have computer experience, but with Visual Basic etc... Nothing with hardware.

There should be a section for it (not knowing which BIOS makes it a little difficult) But you should see something like Primary Display (set it to AGP)
