Win XP SP3.

Recently bought a SATA removable drive tray. Installed it and mounted a Western Digital 640 gb SATA and it worked fine.

Then a week later I mounted a Maxtor 120 Gb SATA and it is not being recognised. It also slowed the entire system down when mounted.

In Windows Explorer the drive is recognised but without any acknowledgment of its content [how many gig's it holds]. The Maxtor has worked well when not mounted on the removable drive tray.

Why would this be happening? Any ideas. Thx

Perhaps the drive isn't fully compatible with the tray. Have you tried plugging the drive directly into the mobo port?
