I was sure I'm gonna upgrade to a AMD 5000+ Black Edition, and now AMD released the 5400+ Black Edition.
Do any of you guys know if the 5400+ will overclock better or more than the 5000+, or will I get the same results from both?

5400 probably higher binned and should get a slightly higher oc. Slightly

I am running the 5000+ BE in my HTPC, it overclocked to 3.1 by simply raising the multi, no voltage adjustments needed. I have not attempted higher, due to no need in it just playing back HD, and very light gaming.

I am going to guess the 5400 would scale the same, saw one fella hit 3.6 with just a multi adjustment. (kinda hard to believe a 30% OC with NO additional voltage required)

For the money difference, get the 5400.

i vote the 5400+, probably a slightly better chip.

Thanx guys

What does "binned" refer to?

As a matter of interrest, in practice, how does OC'ing to the max affect the lifespan of a processor? Is the performance gain worth the sacrifice?
