Anyone have a Scythe Mugen II? I just recently ordered it. I'm worried
about it not fitting into my case, since I've heard it was huge.

I have the midtower, Apevia Sniper G case.

It should fit, that side fan doesn't look like it'll block the Scythe heatsink.

The height of the Scythe Mugen II is 6.25" and that looks like a 120x120x25mm side door fan, which would be about 1" in height. So that leaves you about 3/4" of open space.

The conversion from mm to inches is .03937x __mm = , so you should be ok. :wahoo:

Well, I have screw-mounts for the case-mobo, so after all the screws/mobos/mounts, do you I think I might be cutting it close? :D

will the scythe mugen II fit in the nzxt guardian 921? it can fit a TRUE 120 on the lga775,

Guardian 921:
Width x ht x depth

ill be using the i7 mobo, so is it any further out than the lga775 mobos?

heres a bit on the size of the scythe, and various other coolers

Anyone try 1 vs 2 vs 3 vs 4 fans for the Mugen 2?

btw, has anyone installed this for an i7?

Why exactly do you have to remove the protective cpu-plate to install this? Isn't that a bit dangerous?

Btw, is the CPU retention kit reinstalled after removing the back plate?

Have not installed the Scythe Mugen II, but have installed the ThermalRight Ultra120 eXtreme-1366 RT on my Asus P6T Deluxe w/OC Palm without removing Asus backplate.

Question on what you mean by : remove the protective cpu-plate.

The only protective cpu plate I know of is the gray plastic 1366 chipset cover where you put your Processor in on the Mobo. Unless you also mean the one that is also protecting the CPU proc that you bought for the mobo.

What I am thinking they are telling you to remove them before installing the CPU Proc into the X58 slot for cpu.

Hope this helped you out.

The Mugen fits in any mid-full tower case... it is wide but not tall....

thxs, I was being a bit vague.

What I meant was the CPU retention bracket with that little lever that secures your CPU in place to the socket.

I think the Mugen2 calls for you to remove the backplate that secures this bracket in order to install the cooler. I'm not sure if the bracket is reinstalled after installing their custom backplate...?
