I'm building a new rig soon and I'm torn between the Cosmos 1000 and the 1010. (I ruled out the 1100 because of the touch panel that I'm not sure I entirely trust. Call me old school, but I like an actual button to turn my computer on and off.)
The Cosmos 1010 is significantly more expensive that the 1000 and I'm not really concerned about the ESA features on the 1010 because I won't be using them in the foreseeable future. However, I have a few issues with the 1000 that I'm not sure about.
First, I noticed that the 1010 got rid of the VGA Cooling tunnel present in the 1000 for a simple 120mm side panel fan. Now I've read just about every review I can find and the one thing I find most commonly is that the VGA tunnel actually increases your card temp rather than decreasing it. I plan on replacing the stock fans on my two 8800GT's with the AC Accelero cooler and all of the case fans with some 55 CFM fans. Is cooling still going to be an issue with the Cosmos 1000 or should I be OK?
Secondly, and I know this is an issue with both of the cases, is the HDD cooling issue solved by adding the extra fan to the HDD and maybe adding the Vantec HDC-502A cooler to each HDD.
Finally, and this is just a generic question that I know has been answered before, is there a good 120mm fan out there that can push around 70 or 80 CFM while still being around 30 dBA or so?
I went with the Cosmos S as opposed to the 1000.
Cosmos S....
-I was not sure at first, but the touch button on/off is kinda of cool. It is all, however, personal preference.
-Cooling is a lot better IMHO. Front 120 mm fan suckng in via hard drive cage. Huge 240 mm fan sucking air right on MOBO and GPU.
-Hard drive cooling a lot better. It has the front 120 mm fan blowing right onto the hard drive cage.
-Lighter case (aluminum vs steel)
-No front door to impair front air intake.
-Nice anesthetics with gray/black finnish
The bad.
-Few of the components are plastic (latches for the front partial side doors). I wish these were of higher quality.
