Here's a choice most of us would probably enjoy making.

Having got my gamer system up and running I'm thinking of going up in the GPU world. Currently have BFG 8800 GTS OC 320 (575Mhz version). Bought it a year ago intending to go SLi. But the 9800's came out and now the GTX280's.

I think I'll go for the GTX280, buy one now and SLi nearer end of year.

So I've narrowed it down to ASUS's GTX 280 1GB, 602MHz or the MSI GTX 280 OC 1GB, , 650MHz.

Anyone own one? Anyone got an opinion?

I like ASUS, the components are good (once you get 'em going) but don't know much about MSI. I think they're quite reputable for Motherboards but what about the GPU's??

Thanks,

I'd go with EVGA for any nvidia card. They have the best support, as well as the awesome step up program.

While there is money it is a hell of a plan.

Just hope you have a great PSU, and a power plant near by.

I'd hold off on a purchase for now. 4870x2 is coming real soon and Nvidia may retaliate to that. Prices are still dropping and high-grade cards are still on the way.

i replaced my 8800 GTS with the MSI one, and i liked it. the only thing to watch out is the gtx 280 is about 2" longer than 8800 gts. i have to re-arrage my hard drives to make room for it.

I've never heard of Atrix 650W PSU. I guess it's fine for one GTX 280. Get a Corsair 1000HX or Enermax Galaxy 1000W when you add the second card.

Between Asus and MSI, whatever is cheaper. At newegg the MSI comes with the Witcher, not a bad game at all.

Actually, looking at newegg, I see the XFX/eVGA/BFG cheaper than the Asus/MSI. I'd pick betwen XFX, eVGA and BFG.

just go with the cheaper

I know when I got my 9800gtx, it was 1.5" longer than my GTS 640...just be aware of the space...
