I was looking into a 550w powercooler (two 18A 12v rails) or antec PSU (three 18A 12v rails) for my new rig. Some say it's enough and others that it is not.
Here are the specs:
1 intel e8500 oc'ed to 3.8 (hopefully) 1 asus p5q-e 1 sata 750gb seagate 1 nvidia geforce 9800GT 2 x 2gb = 4gb of OCZ 1066 1 DVDRW 1 ARctic freezer 7 with 92m cooler
and the usual stuff... couple of USB devices plugged in here and there...
I used an online calculator and got 387w.
what do you guys think?
btw: is one 12v rail with 60 amps better than 3 o 4 with the amps divided amongst them?
thanks.

I've never heard of "Powercooler" PSUs. The Antec, however, should be a good reliable choice.

You mean the Antec 550w, right? Either the Trio or NEO models would be fine.
You'd have to research the Powercooler yourself. Not much is known about it - but it does look to have 20A/18A +12v rails.

Did you already purchase the 9800GT? ATI HD 4850 might be a better choice for your Crossfire motherboard.
550w would be plenty for that system, sure get the 850w if you have the money and want something down the line but the 9800gt doesnt have a big power draw.

Those 3 PSUs, are very good quality ones compared to the Antec550w (not that its bad). The 550w should be enough , but if you want a bit more grunt for the future and you have the money id grab the Corsair 750w you mentioned.
