Just done formatting a friends PC, installed all the drivers etc, except for one thing, he has no drivers for whatever video card is in it, and he doesn't actually know what card it is either, I've tried the run "dxdiag" command, and looked in the device manager, but neither of them say what card it is.
Anyone know how I can find out what card is in this machine while I don't have drivers installed?
oh and btw, fyi, ninja bumps are explicitly forbidden on TH forums, it is bannable offense and you should take care to thread softly as tom doesn't appreciate such displays of ignorance.
you know how like some ppl will say their "friend" has a problem when in reality they do, well I am not trying to call him on it or anything like that, just thought it would be sort of humorous.
A ninja bump is what you do when you post a question, and no body answers after the first 20 min. Obviously if you bump it, people will see this is serious, and will stop doing what they are doing in RL and start working on this. (least you go ninja on their @$$.)
Short of opening the case, GPUz is probably the best best. I'm not sure the DXdiag trick works until drivers have been loaded.

Also a tool out there somewhere called "unknowndevices" which can pick up most modern hardware etc, but if you can physically see the card you should be able to get models off the card or even during boot/post etc for most cards too.
