Is a BIOS update necessary for OC'ing?

I've read to avoid them unless there's a problem. I've also read to update it before trying to OC.

No update unless you need what the update fixes or does.

It's not necessary unless your motherboard doesn't support your CPU very well or has problems with overclocking. In that case you should update.

Tip: Make sure you have a good cooler.
