Put your list of components at top of post, put the excess verbiage at the bottom, that way someone might actually look at what you have chosen and comment.

Nice to see that you have actually read the comments of others, allthough your post still has way to much irrellevant info.
As for your dream picturing me playing the latest game, doing heavy multitasking and using photoshop cs3 on my new pc I think you will have to do better than your PNY GeForce 8500GT, as you can see in this review http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/8500gt/ where the last words are If you take your gaming even half seriously, then stay away from this one.

If money's the issue and reason you didn't get a decent gamer card, then at least consider the better cards that can be had for just a little more such as the $59.99 Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102726 reviewed at http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2278723,00.asp it will at least let you play most games at medium settings. Something your 8500GT will struggle to do having less than half the graphics power.

For heavy multitasking and running lots of different OSes, you may consider a quad core. Also, this post was way too rambling to follow easily, not to mention the length. Please organize your message in a more logical way to help any readers that might bother reading your 1346-word essay.

As others have mentioned, that graphics card is junk unless you don't need to play any games at all.

There is no such thing as future proofing, so you should probably dump the DDR3 compatibility or any dreams of using DDR3 on this machine. Just get some good DDR2-800 and call it a day.

I think I speak for everyone in this forum when I say: "I don't care about your office chair." Keep your posts simple and to-the-point.

Your right, my 8500gt is garbage. The truth is a serious thing...

Which one should I choose a video card? Or..

I used a combination of neweggs reviews and THG's latest graphics card chart. Thanks justjc

Q6600 is better than a e8400?
I did some research and the best response I could think of is, I don't want to be slapping myself in the next six months for doing an upgrade without a quad. I have to admit, the exxxx processors sure do put up a good fight when o.c.

Q6600 multitasking monstrosity, here I come... (seems as if after reading some threads, all other Qxxxx prices will drop except for this and another one :sol: because of Q3)

What are the best settings to use for my DDR2 800mhz memory and processor? (I heard something about a 1:1 cpu to memory ratio?)

Neither of the video cards you selected are what an enthusiast would select today, best bang for your buck is an HD 4850 card, or for a bit higher price, an HD 4870. Toms charts are quite out of date, and are of no use in selecting a high end video card today.

Q6600 is a great bang for your buck, but if video encoding performance is important to you, and the budget permits, the Q9450 with SSE4 and 12MB L2 cache is a killer and it overclocks well.

Q6600 set at 8X mult 400 FSB for 3.2GHz, or 9X mult 400 FSB for 3.6GHz. In either case, a good cooler is essential, my personal preference for this would be 1. OCZ Vendetta 2 or 2. Xigmatek 1283. With either one I would get the Xigmatek Crossbow backplate for easier and more reliable mounting than the default push pins. The two coolers are almost identical, however the OCZ unit does a slightly better job due to the airflow design.
By using a 400 MHz FSB setting, your double pumped DDR2 800 memory setting will be 1:1 (2x400).

My reccomendation of the Radeon HD 3650 was made because I thought, from your choice of the 8500GT, that you were building on a tight budget that wouldn't allow you to throw much more than $50 after a graphics card and the HD 3650 is the cheapest card I know of that will play recent titles.

About your current choice the VisionTek Radeon HD4850 I think you'll be happy with your choice as it's the best card in terms of price/performance from the newest generation and the lifetime warrenty is kind of nice to.

Thanks THG crew, I think I have all the best specs for my rig now. I'm sure this will be way past my expectations, seeing that you guys are the best pc crunchers one the web today (correct me if I'm wrong..). In other words, your C+ is probably an A- for me. So i'm sure this A+ will be a 'dual' one for me :) (A+ plus A+ = 2 A+)

Still open for any final remarks...

I still say dump the EP35C, the dual-memory boards almost always have issues. Just get the regular EP35-DS3R -mine's running quite stable at 400FSB for a cool 3.2GHz OC on my Q9450. I think you could squeze slightly higher speeds out of a decent P45 board, but THG isn't too happy with the P45 chipset, so I dunno.

Still waiting on your responses. Three more days to go...

p.s. You THG crew are the best, I'm not only going to be approved for the best price-quality-performance locally, but worldwide. And that my friend, feels good. :bounce:
