For the motherboard, unless you're planning to SLi, do not get an nVidia chipset. Go with a P45(for a single card) or a X38/X48(if you want to crossfire ATI cards).

For the CPU, get a Q6600 and overclock it, that will save you some money. If you're going to overclock, you need a CPU cooler and thermal compound. I like to use Zalman CPU coolers and Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal compound, but get whatever brand you prefer.

For the RAM, get DDR2, it will save you some money and DDR3 isn't much better than DDR2 for now.

For the video card, get a ATI HD 4850,it's better than the 9800GTX and it's cheaper.

That's a good hard drive, but, I would get an extra one at 7200rpm for storage if you can afford it.

Other than that it looks like a good build, good luck!

Get rid of the terrible/overpriced 790i. Waste of your dollars and its buggy to boot. DDR3 is overpriced and has no performance gains over DDR2.

efx92 says it all, though I would take a Xigmatek over Zalman as it performs better. Q9300 is a poor overclocker. Either go Q6600 or Q9450.

4850 >> 9800GTX for sure.

Raptor Xs are complete wastes of money. Not faster than current WD 7200RPM drives are much more money. Get rid of it.

I really hate RAIDMAX stuff. Their PSUs are garbage. I did not notice that case came with a PSU. AVOID THAT LIKE THE BLACK PLAGUE. RUN RUN RUN. Raidmax PSUs are that bad seriously.

Ditch the case, find another one and buy a Corsair 550VX PSU. MUCH better. Look at PC Power and Cooling Quad 750 if you want to Crossfire. If you never plan to change the motherboard to a P45 chipset. You won't use the x48 features so there is reason to pay for them.

Don't buy 4x 1GB. Buy 2x 2GB kit instead.

That board is good but overpriced for P45 when X48 boards with fully powered PCI-E x16 slots can be had for around the same price.

Look at the Asus P5E Deluxe instead.

If you never plan to Crossfire- drop down to the P5Q-E instead for $159 @ newegg.

Case is fine.
