I think it's a good idea (both cheaper and better performing) to get an X38 or X48 chipset board and go with CrossfireX with two HD 4850s instead. Also, consider getting a 45nm CPU like the Q9450. It will run cooler and overclock pretty decently.

What resolution do you plan on running (dual graphics cards may be quite unnecessary if below 24" screen equivalent)?

Look at other people's first builds to see suggestions on the heatsink and hard drives.
