This is my first attempt at upgrading a major part of my system. I am getting an ATI Radeon 4870 and I need to know what kind of PSU I should get. The one I have now is the stock 375W PSU. I need at least 550W. Can someone help me pick out a PSU that won't fry my system?
I found one called the Rosewill Strongman. Would it provide enough power to 2 HDs, an optical drive, and a 4870? Will it fry my system?
Yeah 2HDs versus 1HD doesnt make much of a difference, if you were unstable with two you would prob be unstable with one. And really he needs more than 600w? for what?
My system, nice and stable:
PSU 600W: https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=324468 1x 150GB 10000 rpm raptor
6x Misc hardrives
1x Optical drive
Q6600 @ 3GHz
1 x 4870
1 x P5W DH Deluxe mobo
1 x Large case with 5 fans.
500-550W should be enough power for you system. but stay away from rosewill. when it comes to power supplies, only buy from brand names. some good ones: antec, enermax, corsair, OCZ, pc power and cooling...
