8600 gts 256meg vs hd 2600 pro 512meg

I have a ati 2600 pro in my pc now and i just picked up two 8600gts from xfx the triple x edition but only have one pcie slot . i looked at the charts it seemed to win some lose some as far as my card compared to the 8600's what do you all think? should i swap the ati 2600 for the nvidia 8600?? just wondering .

The 8600 GTS should be stronger than the hd2600 pro all though not by a huge margin.

so is it enough to warrent installing it ? or since the 2600 is 512 and the 8600 is only 256 leave it as it is

The 8600GTS will definitely beat the HD2600 Pro. The HD2600 Pro main competition is the 8600GT.

Yeah, Generally, the 8600GTS > HD2600XT > 8600GT > HD2600 pro. If you enable fsaa, the Radeons lose more performance. So for sure the 8600GTS is better, but still far behind the $80 8800GS that would have been a HUGE step up for you.

Since you have it install it. 256 or 512ram is not the big issue with cards this low in the charts.
